Brian began his investment career in 1999 right at the very top of the biggest stock bull market. During his career, he has helped his clients successfully manage their investments through the 9/11 terrorist attack, 2 equity bear markets, a housing bust, and a credit implosion. He has built his career on the foundation that how well you manage your investment returns during the market downturns will ultimately determine your long-term performance.
As a co-founder of Parallel, Brian enjoys communicating and helping clients understand the very complex and dynamic changes that affect our economy and markets daily. Brian is a Florida State University graduate, a CFA charterholder, and a Chartered Market Technician.
Brian is married to Jeanne Boughner and they have a 20-year-old daughter, Selah and 8-year-old son, Noah. They attend The Village Church in Greenville and are very active in the community. Brian’s involvement includes: Leadership Greenville, board trustee of the South Carolina Children’s Theatre and Project Host, and Palmetto Society Board Vice Chair for the United Way of Greenville County. Jeanne is an IT project manager for DPR Construction and serves on the board of Living Bread which helps women who suffer from eating disorders.
Brian enjoys the outdoors and regularly bikes, runs, and backpacks the mountain trails here in the southeast. He is also very passionate about the upstate art scene and has performed in productions at many of the local theaters.
Anthony started his Financial Services career in 1998 with Capital Planners. Before co-founding Parallel Financial Partners, LLC., Anthony enjoyed a career at BB&T Wealth Management as a Wealth Advisor servicing a portfolio of client relationships within the affluent market segment. Anthony provided an integrated delivery of services including: financial planning, business succession planning, asset management, personal trust and estate planning, insurance and risk management services, mortgage services, and general banking services. At BB&T, he won the Royal Flush Award three times and was a two-time Sterling Performer Award winner.
Anthony listens and adapts to understand the goals and priorities of his clients. He is prompt to appreciate their concerns and strives to design strategies to achieve their goals. He received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee.
Anthony and his wife Tracy, a Team Leader with Hayssen, live in Greer and have two young daughters, Sophia and Lydia. They are members of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where he and his family are actively involved. Anthony has helped coach some of the youth basketball teams at St. George, as coaching is one of his passions. He is involved with AHEPA, Velouchi, and has served on various boards for the Thornblade Club. Also, he has helped serve at Christ Church Episcopal School where his daughters attend.
Anthony enjoys all sports, especially watching his daughters compete in athletics.
Since 1999, Greg has been passionately building investment portfolios used by clients to achieve their financial goals. Prior to Parallel he was co-manager of approximately $1 billion while at Sterling Capital Management. He also excelled as a Portfolio Manager at the Private Bank of Bank of America managing both client accounts and institutional model portfolios. Earlier in his career Greg was a founding member of the Trading Analytics team while working for the Charles Schwab Co.
As the CIO of Parallel Greg oversees the broad investment process and philosophy for the firm, which is combined with leading third-party research to develop Parallel’s investment outlook. This outlook is then shared with clients via regular market reports and videos and implemented throughout their portfolios. His investment philosophy emphasizes high quality assets, while utilizing both fundamental and technical analysis. He views a rules-based risk management discipline as a critical aspect to long-term financial success. Greg utilizes this process to select the securities in Parallel’s individual stock strategies and handles the trading responsibilities for the firm.
Greg and his wife Faith live in Raleigh, NC. Faith is an aerial circus instructor and performs all over the east coast. Greg holds his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mount Union. In addition, he holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Market Technician.
When he takes a break from studying the market Greg can usually be found riding his bicycle or walking in the park with his wife Faith and their dog Darcy.
Prior to becoming an Advisor in 2016, Steven spent 12 years in professional baseball and enjoyed 4 different years in the major leagues with three different teams. Steven was a captain of the University of South Carolina’s baseball team in 2004 and 2005 and enjoyed making the College World Series appearances in 2003 and 2004. After Steven’s junior season at USC, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 5th round of the First-Year Player Draft.
While playing, Steven learned all successful teams have great leadership, on and off the field. These leaders help the individual players follow and execute a game plan. Steven looks at finance no different. He looks forward to developing new relationships as well as continuing to optimize and guide his clients to financial security. Steven attended The University of South Carolina and received a bachelor’s degree from the Darla Moore School of Business. In his time as an advisor, Steven has helped guide his clients in many parts of their total financial picture. Steven has developed an expertise in total asset management. Focusing on tax mitigation strategies, proper and strategic funding of life insurance and disability insurance, and overall asset allocations has helped simplify and optimize his clients financial picture.
Steven and his wife Baileigh, dated as high school sweethearts, have been married for 13 years, and enjoy every moment with their daughters, Claire and Sarah. Baileigh is a registered nurse and worked at Spartanburg Medical Center. They are active in their community and are members at Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
Steven also enjoys the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, playing golf, and carpentry projects are hobbies that Steven enjoys.
Maui started her career in financial planning after a few years in accounting and corporate
finance. She held accounting jobs in various industries including telecom and software development. Before joining Parallel, Maui worked as a financial planning associate at an independent advisory firm.
Maui currently works with Parallel financial advisors to provide comprehensive financial planning to clients. She collaborates with the Parallel team to help clients prepare for different stages and life events. Maui passed the CFP® Board exam in 2017 and is currently working to fulfill the experience requirement for certification. Maui has an undergraduate degree in Business with a concentration in Finance and minor in Economics from North Carolina State University.
Maui lives in Asheville, NC with her husband Xam (Sam) and three children, Ruthie, Eli, and Jude. Xam is a Product Technologist at Lenovo where he has worked for over 14 years. They are members of the Asheville Church which they helped plant in 2011. As an active volunteer, Maui works with various non-profit organizations. She currently serves on the executive committee of a leadership giving network under United Way of Asheville Buncombe.
In her free time, Maui loves to read, write, cook, and spend time with her family while seizing every opportunity to travel and experience the world.
Veronica began her career in the financial services industry as a Registered Sales Assistant in 2006. She has since worked as the Lead Associate Advisor of a team and as an independent financial advisor.
As Director of Operations at Parallel, Veronica brings her background in all of these roles together to ensure an excellent client experience. She helps manage each step of the onboarding process, facilitates our compliance reporting, and oversees the day to day service needs for clients. Veronica is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2015.
Veronica lives in her home town of Powdersville with her husband Robert and their daughters, Adelle and Miranda. Veronica has previously served as a board member for Mill Town Players community theater, and is still actively volunteers.
Veronica enjoys painting and reading in her free time, as well as supporting her daughters during volleyball games and their involvement in local theater.
Mark is the Managing Principal of The Chesson Company and serves as the firm’s and its clients’ investment insurance portfolio manager. Mark’s expertise in the proper issuance and strategic funding of life insurance contracts generates high performing tax-advantaged investment results. He serves as an advisor to affluent clients throughout the United States, concentrating on enhanced, tax-advantaged wealth transfer strategies.
Mark earned his BA in Finance from Texas Christian University in 2002. In 2003, he graduated from the BB&T Management Development Program and worked in BB&T’s corporate lending department until joining The Chesson Company in 2007.
As a top life insurance producer, Mark has been a presenter at Partners Financial National Conference and a highlighted guest speaker on the annual Partners Voice: Success Stories. Mark has been recognized as a Financial Services President’s Inner Circle and Concierge Elite Member, and he has served for multiple terms as an Advisory Board Member for ING, a major financial services company. Since 2014, Mark has served as an Advisory Board Member for Nationwide Financial, a Fortune 100 Company.
Active in his community, Mark has held leadership positions at the Boys & Girls Club, United Way, and YoungLife. He served on the CapStone Bank Advisory Board from 2007 until 2014. In 2015, Mark began serving on the Paragon Bank Advisory Board and on the Advisory Board for Duke Raleigh Hospital.
He and his wife Sarah Sims have two children and reside in Raleigh.
Joined Parallel in February of 2018 as a Client Service Manager. Prior, she spent 15 years with BB&T as a Wealth Client Specialist. She also worked as an Executive Recruiter with Management Recruiters International for 10 years placing accounting and financial personnel primarily for manufacturing firms located in the southeast.
Nancy truly enjoys working with clients and is the poster child of being a people person. Her role at Parallel involves making sure our clients have a wonderful experience when they call and visit our office. She also attended the University of South Carolina and is originally from Pennsylvania.
Nancy loves cooking and spending time with family and friends. She has a son (William) and her cat’s name is Murphy. She also actively volunteers at the nursing home where her mother resides.
Victoria graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Double Major in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and Criminal Justice in 2013. Since graduation she has worked in a variety of professional roles such as an Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Specialist and a Police Officer . Prior to leaving Virginia, she worked as a Product Quality Analyst for Allianz Partners, ensuring insurance policy compliance for Travel, Event, and Tuition.
Victoria joined Parallel in March of 2019 as a Client Service Manager. From her previous experiences, she aims to bring the same dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence to meet and assist with the firm’s client and operational needs. Victoria is married to Dr. Amauri Latham, who works as a resident physician in the MedPeds Department at Prisma Health.
Victoria’s community service work has included Rise Against Hunger, Richmond Food Bank, and Angel Tree – Salvation Army Central VA. Outside of work, she enjoys playing the piano, ukulele, gardening, painting, and biking with her husband.
Paul understands the value of creating a sound plan and committing to a process to enjoy long-term results first-hand: he spent 13 years training to swim a two-minute race and win an Olympic medal.
Today, he brings his insights and approaches from his sports background to his role as a financial advisor. He loves helping clients develop a clear picture of their financial aspirations and create a comprehensive plan with clear steps to provide them peace of mind and enable them to successfully reach their investment objectives. Paul has run his own start-up businesses and especially enjoys working with small business owners because he understands how to help them with their unique challenges.
Paul has been in the financial services industry since 2001, initially as an advisor at Morgan Stanley. In addition to providing financial planning and investment management for his advisory clients, he is also a recognized industry speaker and business coach to other financial advisors.
Originally from New Zealand, he first came to the US in the 1980s to further his competitive swimming career and study Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He has also earned a post-graduate Diploma in Marketing from Auckland University and a Masters of Theological Studies from Golden Gate Baptist Seminary. He and his wife Aliesha have been married for almost 30 years and moved to the Greenville area in 2018. Their adult son lives and works in IT in the San Francisco Bay Area. Paul and Aliesha are active members at North Hills Church and enjoy exploring both cultural and outdoor activities in the Upstate and nearby.
